REVOLVE - How good is the portable pizza oven with rotating stone?

Pizza ovens with a rotating stone are nothing new. There are several on the market, and you shouldn't even briefly look at many rotary stone ovens because the frustration level of baking pizzas will always be lower than the satisfaction of successful results. So what makes the REVOLVE oven a good and reasonable oven for 1190 BGN in my eyes?

REVOLVE is not the first gas-powered compact pizza oven on the market. Before it, of course, there were already brands that offered small and powerful ovens (Ooni, Gozney etc.) or ovens equipped with a rotary mechanism (Witt). However, the development of this oven was the result of years of enthusiasm by inventors who wanted a compact oven (that was portable) and to avoid the problem that small, compact ovens always presented the pizza maker with the problem of not having enough space to turn the pizza. The result is this oven, which is not only compact but also powerful thanks to its removable flame. It's suitable for real Neapolitan pizza (the oven is AVPN* certified), but also for many other dishes - you can use a cast iron tray in the oven and bake potatoes or steak in it. Thanks to the rotating stone with battery-powered motor, everything cooks very evenly in the oven. The flame is adjustable - from a very high temperature to a low flame, you can bake any pizzas or cupcakes while watching the oven and enjoying a drink with friends. Sound too good to be true? Let's take a look at the detailed specs and what comes with the oven.

REVOLVE is a portable oven that weighs 18.6 kg and measures 56.6 cm (length) x 44.9 cm (width) x 29.7 cm (height) and fits in the trunk of any car when folded. When unfolded, the oven measures 56.6 cm (length) x 44.9 cm (width) x 41.5 cm (height), making it one of the most compact high-performance pizza ovens for home and travel.

The rotating pizza stone has a diameter of 34 cm (13 inches), which you can also use in its entirety for an equally large pizza. The high-efficiency gas burner has a heat output of 18,000 BTU on the maximum setting and 10,000 BTU on the minimum setting. The burner is located at the rear of the baking chamber and allows a maximum temperature of up to 500°C (930°F) with its removable flame. The motor is battery powered (batteries last a really long time!) and is attached to the housing and shaft by magnets that rotate the pizza stone (made of cordierite, more on that later). The speed of movement of the stone is neither too slow nor too fast, so you can achieve very even results.

As extras to get you started right away, the REVOLVE comes with a pizza peel (bamboo handle, stainless steel peel), weather protection that serves as a carry bag, recipe cards and a laser thermometer. At Furnite.bg, the oven comes with a gas control valve and hose (not included in the usual package when ordered somewhere else).

How to bake in the oven?

The oven's most notable feature is its motor-driven rotating pizza stone, which ensures an evenly baked pizza every time. This automatic approach makes it easy for both beginners and experienced pizza bakers to achieve perfect results. Gas fuel: The oven is gas powered, which is convenient and easy to operate. It heats up quickly and maintains a consistent temperature if you follow a few tricks. Once you've got the oven legs unfolded (this isn't absolutely necessary), you're good to go. Always let the oven heat up for at least 20 minutes and don't turn the stone over during the first 10 minutes to speed up the heat. The rolling flame ensures even heating and excellent baking results:

After 10 minutes, switch on the rotation mechanism and after 20 minutes check the temperature with the supplied laser thermometer. If it is above 380 degrees on the stone, you can go ahead and place the pizza in the oven. It may take a little practice at first to get the pizza to land on the stone, but you'll get the hang of it very quickly. Immediately after placing the pizza in the oven, lower the temperature a bit (to about half of the setting on the wheel) and watch the pizza flip in the oven. Now is the perfect time to crack open a beer! After the pizza has turned a few times, look carefully under the base and check that the baking result is correct. You'll see that the pizza is ready after 90 to 160 seconds, depending on your taste. When you take the pizza out of the oven, be sure to turn the oven back on to the highest setting so it can reheat while you cover the next pizza. Yes, if I would find something to complain, then it's the Cordierit Stone, but that's simply only because I love the Refractory or Biscotto stones for their outstanding heat management. Anyway, I would not exclude the possibility that the oven will get a refractory stone in the future :)

The best thing to remember is: once the pizza is in the oven, turn the temperature down slightly, and when the pizza comes out of the oven, turn it back up to maximum.

One of the outstanding features that I have found with over 10 uses is the ease of use. The gas burner provided even heat and the rotating pizza stone eliminated the need for constant supervision. This made it ideal for hosting pizza parties, as I was able to bake several pizzas in a row without any issues when I took into account the short heat-up phase. After several attempts and failures, the pizzas proved to be a complete success. The base was evenly baked and had the perfect balance between crispiness and chewiness. The toppings were perfectly baked and the flavor was excellent. The oven's ability to bake a fresh Neapolitan pizza in just 60-90 seconds is impressive and makes it perfect for entertaining guests. Depending on the type of pizza, the REVOLVE does exactly what you want it to do. With its rotating stone and ease of use, the oven has appealed to our pizza parties, encouraging guests who have never made pizza before to give it a try. Some of the first ever results were fantastic.

A short anecdote before the conclusion

A small gas cylinder is enough and you can easily cook pizza with the oven even in the mountains.

Why not make pizza in the mountains instead of barbecuing? That was the question I was asked, and I thought "yeah, why not". A few pieces of dough were prepared and with the help of a topping station (we got it from Alfa), the rest of the preparations were completed quickly. After a short car trip we reached the place above the Kresna Gorge in the Pirin Mountains and set the oven on a wooden table we found there. I can tell you it was a lot of fun. Check out this view and let me know if you like it too! You'll soon find impressions of the trip on my Instagram and on Facebook :)
